A Myriad of Things to Do in Downtown Gatlinburg

From natural and cultural attractions, to shopping and sporting opportunities, Gatlinburg, Tennessee and the surrounding area has something for everyone! Walk one block from The Johnson’s Inn to Ripley’s Aquarium of the Smokies, where you’ll explore an underwater shark tunnel, get hands-on at Touch A Ray Bay, laugh out loud at the antics of Black-footed Penguins, and see over 10,000 more exotic sea creatures up close. Only a few more steps will bring you to Downtown Gatlinburg, a unique area filled with boutiques, souvenir shops, malls and unforgettable restaurants. Consider returning to nature with a five-minute drive to the entrance of Great Smoky Mountains National Park. As America’s most-visited national treasure, this park comprises over 800 square miles and is world-renowned for its animal activity, diverse plant life and ancient mountain views. Other outdoor activities are located a short distance away at Ober Gatlinburg Ski Resort, several local golf courses and Rocky Top Sports World, a brand-new complex featuring seven outdoor fields and 86,000 square feet of indoor facility space. For the full Tennessee experience, we recommend visiting the many art and photo galleries in Gatlinburg, as well as our neighboring town of Pigeon Forge for the Dixie Stampede Dinner Attraction, Hatfield & McCoy Dinner Show and the Dollywood Amusement Parks.
